If you desire a true icon of American performance, you need not look further than theĀ 2025 Corvette Stingray. Although it is the entry point to Chevy’s sports car lineup, the Stingray’s acceleration and handling give most million-dollar European supercars a run for their money.

Naturally Aspirated V8

A 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 powers the Stingray, generating 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. Despite lacking a turbocharger or supercharger, the engine maintains outstanding airflow thanks to its composite intake manifold with eight equal-length runners of 210 mm. Additionally, the Stingray’s V8 comes equipped with numerous race-bred components, including a dry-sump scavenge system with three individual pumps, which enhance its performance and lower your lap times.

The Z51 Performance Package introduces several track-focused upgrades, including a performance exhaust that boosts the engine’s output. When paired with the upgraded exhaust system, the naturally aspirated V8 lets loose a screaming 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, enabling the sports car to hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. The Corvette Stingray also crosses the quarter-mile mark in 11.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 194 mph in this configuration.

Dual-Clutch Transmission

The V8 engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission that provides engaging manual shifts alongside uninterrupted power delivery. Because the even and odd gears are connected to two separate clutches, the next gear is always ready to engage. This reduces shift times to about 100 milliseconds for both upshifts and downshifts. The transmission also features a double paddle declutch feature that allows drivers to disengage the clutch without relying on a foot-operated pedal.

Well-Balanced Chassis

Unlike most American performance cars that specialize in straight-line speed, the Corvette is equally quick on roads with sharp curves. Most of the sports car’s maneuverability comes from its nearly perfectly balanced chassis, which improves the vehicle’s stability and makes steering predictable. This balance is achieved by a mid-engine layout that places the V8 behind the driver and in front of the rear axle. The Stingray also has a low center of gravity that minimizes body roll when cornering aggressively.

Magnetic Selective Ride Control

The Stingray offers an available Z51 Performance suspension with Magnetic Selective Ride Control that further enhances maneuverability. It incorporates a magnetorheological fluid that becomes rigid in an instant to keep the wheels planted on the road, allowing you to turn sharply at high speeds. The suspension system also includes advanced adaptive damping technology that reads the road every millisecond and changes the damping force in just 10 milliseconds.
