If you are looking for the best and freshest produce as well as interesting crafts, then a farmers market is the place to go. If you live in or within driving distance of Sallisaw, OK, then you are lucky, as it has one of the most diverse markets around. Not only will you get a great selection of food and other items, but by buying from the market, you are actively supporting local businesses and the community.

Produce Straight From the Farm

Many of the vendors at the Sallisaw market are local farmers or homesteaders who are selling their own produce. The fruit and vegetables that are on offer in the market are the freshest you can buy. With these vendors, there are no supply chains involved, just straight out of the ground or off the tree. There is a huge variety of fresh produce available, and should be able to supply most of your needs.

There is also a large variety and choice of fresh meat. Much of it is grass-fed, and all U.S.D.A. inspected. To complement this, there is a huge selection of foodstuffs also being sold. There are locally produced cheeses, jellies, jams, and various other condiments that you can stock up your fridge and cupboards with.

Locally Produced Crafts

The market is not just about food, there are also many craft stalls that populate the site. At these, you can buy an ever-changing range of locally made items such as bags, clothing, trinkets, and gifts.

Market Location and Directions

The market has a permanent site on the northern side of Sallisaw, at 33 N Elm St, adjacent to the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library. If you are driving in from out of the city, then the I-40 or US-64 are the best routes if coming from the east or west. If you are approaching from the north or south, follow the US-59, it will take you right there.

Market Days and Times

The main seasonal market begins on the first Saturday in April and runs every Wednesday and Saturday through the spring and summer. The site is open for trading between 9 am and 4 pm, with the final market of the season taking place on the last Saturday of October. Regular vendors also hold markets, weather permitting, on Saturdays outside the season dates.

Special Christmas Market

Although the seasonal market schedule finishes at the end of October, there is an annual Christmas market that takes place during December. Here you will be able to load up your larder with plenty of seasonal meats and produce for you and your family to consume over the festive period. While you are there, you can also supplement your gift shopping with items you can’t get in big box stores.

There is so much great fresh produce and so many fantastic craft items available at the Sallisaw market that you are going to need plenty of cargo space to accommodate your purchases. So, call into us at Blue Ribbon Chevrolet today and take the chance to peruse our current inventory.
