  1. Sallisaw/Fort Smith West KOA

The Sallisaw/Fort Smith West KOA offers all the amenities you need for a great camping experience. This location is less than a mile from I-40, offering easy access for both Sallisaw locals and visitors to the city. You can choose from a range of sites, depending on how you like to camp. These options include deluxe and camping cabins, shaded pull-through RV sites, grassy, spacious tent-camping sites, and even a tiny house for rent. During a stay at this campground, you get access to a swimming pool, fishing pond, playground with a ball pit, volleyball court, and box hockey space.

Additional amenities include a rec room with a 50-inch TV with movies, a treadmill, board games, puzzles, and books for all ages. If you want to stay active during your campout, hit the walking trails that run through the outdoor space.

  1. Brushy Lake Park

Brushy Lake Park is owned and operated by the city of Sallisaw and offers several places to camp. During a stay at this location, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the lake. If you’re camping with an RV, any of the concrete campsites should work for your needs. This park also offers quite a few campsites for tent camping with shade and access to amenities. You can reserve a group shelter with electricity if you’re getting together with loved ones.

During your campout, be sure to take advantage of all this park has to offer. If you’re camping with kids, they’ll enjoy playing on the playgrounds situated throughout the park. This spot also has a mile of mountain biking trails, with volunteers working diligently to expand the trails to include an additional 4 miles of biking terrain. Additional amenities include docks for boating and fishing.

  1. Tenkiller State Park

Tenkiller State Park is in Vian which is located about 12 miles from Sallisaw. It’s a great place to camp if you prefer to stay in a cabin, as this location houses a few cabins that are available for rent. The Fox, Squirrel, and Flying Squirrel RV campgrounds are open throughout the fall season, while the Shady Grove, Blue Jay Knob, DX, and Bluff View campgrounds close in mid-November in preparation for the colder weather.

The state park is known as the state’s “heaven in the hills” thanks to its quiet, secluded location and sparkling blue lake. Water enthusiasts can enjoy swimming in the lake or boating on the surface, as the lake features 130 miles of shoreline and more than 13,000 acres of water.
