14 Flags Museum
The 14 Flags Museum features a fascinating collection of historical structures, consisting of three cabins and a train depot, that date back as far as the early 1800s. The oldest structure featured is the Lattimore Cabin, which was erected by Samuel Lattimore in 1835. It’s amazing that such a humble dwelling was able to withstand such a violent and tumultuous period. The second cabin was built by Judge Franklin Faulkner in the 1940s, after he was forced to migrate into Oklahoma for marrying a Cherokee woman.
A third cabin displays artifacts that date back to the Trail of Tears, while the Old Sallisaw Train Depot serves as a reminder of the vital role the railway played in the development of the town and the state. Some nations represented by the 14 flags flown over the museum include France, Great Britain, and Spain.

Brushy Lake Park
Located in the beautiful Cockson Hills of eastern Oklahoma, Brushy Lake Park features a 90-acre recreational area where the public can enjoy some peace and quiet in natural surroundings. The park features a lovely hiking trail, and also a small lake where you can go fishing and boating. Picnic areas, consisting of tables and grills, are scattered throughout the park. If you feel like spending the night, a few camping sites that feature electricity and water are offered. Clean comfort stations are also provided.
