Mountain biking is one of the best ways to get outside and reconnect with nature. Whether you prefer an easy, flat trail or a challenging wooded trail, there is something for everyone in the Sallisaw area. Here are our favorite picks for biking trails near Sallisaw.

Brushy Lake Park

Brushy Lake Park is a beautiful wooded area perfect for outdoor recreation. Located on the north end of Brushy Lake, the two natural surface biking trails offer great rides through the wooded park. Creek Run Trail is a 1.8-mile intermediate biking trail that features rolling hills, challenging dry wash areas, and beautiful views of Brushy Lake. Lakeview Trail is slightly steeper and 1 mile long.

Lake Vian Trails

A 20-minute drive will take you to Lake Vian. Lake Vian is home to 6 miles of trails. The Cross Canadian Path runs just outside the tree line, across an open field. Vian Lake Path is a 2.1-mile trail that circles the entirety of Lake Vian. This trail is a great option for families with kids or leashed pets. Four intermediate trails are available, including Overlook Loop, Red Door, Lake View Drive, and TURP Trail. If you are up for a real challenge, check out the Rock or Roll, Dr’s Drop, or Forney 8 Trails. Although all less than a half-mile long, these trails include elevated ladder bridges, large boulders, and steep slopes.

Lee Creek Reservoir

The Lee Creek Reservoir is just a 30-minute drive over the border into Arkansas. Lee Creek offers 10 miles of trails, broken up into one easy trail and nine intermediate trails. The Cemetery Loop is an easy 1-mile ride around an old cemetery. The most popular intermediate trail is the Lee Creek Trail. This trail covers 3.4 miles of rolling hills, with steep climbs and breezy downhill runs.

The Crack in the Rock Loop Trail is short but challenging. If you make it to the top of Crack in the Rock, you will be rewarded with amazing views of the valley below. The most difficult trail at Lee Creek is the Homestead Loop. This trail is 2.5 miles long and includes a creek crossing, rocky terrain, steep inclines, and tree-root drops.

Bolin Hollow Trail

The Bolin Hollow Trail is an 8.5-mile out-and-back trail in the Cookson Hills State Game Refuge near the city of Bunch. The trail is rough, but the view is worth it. The trail doubles as a hunting road, so be on the lookout for hunters in the fall.

Greenleaf State Park

Greenleaf State Park is approximately 40 minutes away near the city of Braggs. The park trails offer beautiful views of Greenleaf Lake. The park is home to two easy trails, perfect for families and inexperienced riders. Two moderate trails are available that include a swinging bridge. The Greenleaf Trail Full Loop covers 18 miles is perfect for those looking for a challenge.
